200/300 RYT - Training At Green Country Technology Center -

  

Yoga teacher training provides instruction to students in the arts and science of yoga through two certification programs. In your 200-hour teacher training program the student will learn history, philosophy,  the fundamentals of Hatha yoga. Students will gain proficiency in yoga  asana, the linking of postures - vinyasa. Students will be proficient in demonstrating asana as well as observation of participants of a yoga class. Effective teaching requires the ability to recognize and make modifications.  To explain corrective measures needed to improve skills and avoid injuries. Students will learn anatomy of yoga, alignment or proper body mechanics, teaching skills, effective cues, hands on assisting and class management.  Students will learn mantras, mudras, chants in sanscript.  Learn to deliver guided meditations to help others with stress management.  

RYS 200 Hour Core Curriculum approved and supported by Yoga Alliance.

The state of Oklahoma legislature put yoga teacher training under the Private and vocational education programs, requiring a "yoga school" to be offiliated or set up in a more professional manner.  I have aligned with Green Country Vocational School


Deepen your knowledge of Yoga with the Eight limbs of yoga, understand benefits of each yoga asana (postures),  Ayurveda,  meditation.  Take that deeper dive into the spirtual practice, healing of yoga, meditation and Ayurveda. 


Begin your journey: 

  • January 25, 2024 - Aug. 1, 2024
  • Tuesday & Thursday 5:30 - 8:45 pm and 1st Saturday of month 9:00 - 3:00
  • holiday observed: Spring break week & 7/4,
  • make up day for class will be schedule at the end of the term. 
  • Enroll at: Green Country Vocational School, Okmulgee, Oklahoma. 


Deposit required prior to begining the program: supplies, books, manual . . . $250.00. 

Tuition for 200 hours. . . .  $2,000.00



 Module One:

History and Lineage of Yoga.  Where did it all begin? Who were the people that began this movement, what were their philosophies and influence on yoga today. To deepen your understanding of what you teach and why. Who are the first teachers who studied with Desikachar, their lineage and their methodology.  What influenced them as to what influences you?  Learn the philosophy of vedic's.  The Yoga sutras and their appllication to yoga and life. The 8 limbs of Yoga and what their influnece is on your practice. Prana - life begins with breath and more.  A Yoga Practice to draw you deeper into understanding the asana, when you breath do you feel your body settle? What are your senses receiving in an asana? what is pratyahara of the asana? Yoga is more than a physical practice. 


Module Two:

 Sun Salutations A, B.  What is Hiatha, vinyasa, sun salutations, and how do you explain the different terms.  Building a class sequence with themes, intention, mechanics of movement.  Breath work, techniques, the mind, effect on body and mind. the CNS and breakdown of parsympathetic and sympathetic. A practice, A meditation.  Beginning Sanskrit names of Asana. 


Module Three:

Anatomy/Physiology

Bones, muscles, ligaments, tendons of Asana.

Muscle tension, contraction, elongation, load, shift, footwork, "movement with ease" in a flow.

Biomechanics, range of motion, adaptations and modifications. 

Cueing from the ground up. setting your student up for success in asana.


Module Four:

Pulling the first three modules together

Asana's breakdown: seated, standing, supine, etc. 

indications and contraindications of Asana's for health


Module Five:

Yama & Niyamas 

 Using Mantras, Mudras, chants, affirmations.

 The energies of the body in movement: chakras, meridians, endocrine systems, Dosha.


Module six:

Ayurveda basics and how it relates to your yoga practice

  • Yoga is the sister science of Ayurveda. 
  • Yoga flow for the dosha, Vata, Pitta, Kapha
  • discuss modifications in detail. 


Module Seven:

Meditation/relaxation

  • brain waves - movement
  • parasympathetic and sympathetic - CNS 
  • how to create a visual meditation


Module Eight:

Pulling it all together

300 Hour Teacher Training - Advanced Yoga Training

RYS 300 Core Curriculum - YA

This curriculum will take a deeper dive into some areas discussed.  It will be a time where you decide a specific direction for Your Yoga teaching.

 Meditation is about the mind becoming quiet, still, calm.  The listening position to hear within and around. 

Variety of tools to take meditation practice deeper.  

different needs of different students you will encounter in practice. 

Spiritual practice of yoga continued

 You are a moving body of energy, how do you show up, how does the student show up

 the spiritual practice, philosophy.
